Non-stop drama fun with specialised creative activities that aim to develop self-confidence and performance-awareness. Stories, acting adventures and plays are devised daily.
Children are invited to attend wearing their favourite dressing-up clothes so that we can create original stories for their unique characters.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
New Dramatots joining us on our holiday camps must be aged at least 3 and a half years old and have attended nursery school for at least one full term.
Dramatots must be confidently toilet trained for a minimum of 3 months. Children cannot attend wearing nappies or pull ups. We are well aware that sometimes “accidents” happen, please be reassured, that our staff are fully trained to provide help in this situation and you will be notified.

WHAT IS DRAMATOTS?
Dramatots is a fun-filled Drama course comprising specialised creative activities that aim to develop children's self-confidence and performance-awareness. Each day, different stories and acting adventures are devised. Children are welcome to attend wearing their favourite dressing-up clothes, so that we can create original stories for their unique characters. Dramatots courses are taught by qualified Drama teachers, along with a teaching assistant. The maximum number of children in a group each day is 14, and friends will be placed in the same group if requested. Our aim is for children to develop their communication skills, cultivate their empathy, explore their emotions, and fire their imagination within the framework of a safe, nurturing and creative environment.
WHO IS DRAMATOTS FOR?
Dramatots is for pre-Reception children aged from 3 years 6 months to 4 years 11 months, who have been attending nursery school for at least a term. All Dramatots must be confidently toilet trained for a minimum of 3 months, as children cannot attend wearing nappies or pull-ups. We are well aware that sometimes toilet accidents happen! Please be reassured that our staff are fully trained to provide help in this situation, and you will be notified of this at the end of the day. If your child does not meet this criteria now, don’t worry! We look forward to welcoming them to Dramarama, once they are ready, on a future holiday camp. We run courses in February and October Half Terms, as well as Easter, Summer and Christmas Holidays.
Please note: Dramatots is just for the children! All Dramarama courses are drop-off sessions and unfortunately, parents and carers cannot stay to watch (or join in!)
WHAT DOES A DAY AT DRAMATOTS LOOK LIKE?
Dramatots courses are 10am - 2.30pm daily. Children can be dropped off early from 9.45am, but we do not have the facilities for late collection after 2.30pm. If you have an older child attending one of our Performing Arts courses, you are welcome to collect both children from 2.45pm, but please be aware, as older children are rehearsing for the end of week Show, they may not be finished until 3pm.
Morning activities: 10am - approx 12pm
Mid-morning Snack break: approx 11am - 11.10am
Lunch: approx 12pm - 12.30pm
Afternoon activities: approx 12.30pm - 2.30pm
WHAT IS THE DRAMATOTS DROP-OFF AND COLLECTION PROCEDURE?
Drop-off: Please aim to arrive just before 10am on your child's first few days as we like to get started as soon as possible at 10am, and as Dramatots are often impatient to get started! Upon arrival, your child will be shown to their Drama teacher's group, and registered. At 10am, Dramatots are taken up to the drama room by their Drama teacher. If you are running late, please don't worry, as our Dramarama assistants wait at the doors for late arrivals, and will take your child up to the class . If you know in advance that you will be arriving late, please advise a member of the Dramarama office team, but please try to avoid this on settling in days.
Collection: Children will be in the room with Dramarama assistants waiting for parents and carers to collect them at the door. Please advise in advance if other adults apart from yourself will be collecting your child. If other parents are collecting on your behalf, please let us know their child's name too. Please tell us your child's full name, and they will be brought to you. Please ensure that all carers dropping-off or collecting your child are aware of these procedures.
* WHAT IS THE DRAMATOTS DROP-OFF AND COLLECTION PROCEDURE FOR PARENTS WITH CHILDREN ATTENDING OTHER PERFORMING ARTS COURSES?
As above, however, on Monday - Thursday, you may either collect your Dramatot at 2.30pm, and then return to collect your older child(ren) at 3pm, OR you may collect all your children at 2.45pm.
On Friday, older children perform in an end of week Show to parents, and we will confirm the time of your child's Show the week before the course starts. If your older child is participating in one of our Shows starting at either 1pm or 1.45pm, you are welcome collect your Dramatot early to watch the performance too. Alternatively, you can collect them after the Show, at 2.30pm as usual.
WHAT SHOULD DRAMATOTS BRING TO THE COURSE?
Please provide a nut-free packed lunch each day, and please ensure all lunch items are fully named, as there are often many similar-looking lunch boxes, bags and cups! Please only provide food that you know your Dramatot will eat! Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to warm food, and cannot provide tableware or cutlery. You may also provide a small, named, nut-free, mid-morning snack.
On occasion, we have children attending our courses with extreme airborne food allergies. If this is the case, and there are any food items that must be avoided in packed lunches, we will email all parents the week before the course. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Dramatots should wear comfortable clothing - please ensure that all removable clothing, such as cardigans, hoodies and jackets, are named. Dramatots are welcome to attend the course wearing their favourite dressing up outfits, although this is not compulsory - again, please name everything! Alternatively, your child can bring a prop e.g. crown, tiara or similar. To ensure a happy, positive environment, please do not provide toy swords, guns or scary masks etc.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: 'When I ask my child what they do at Dramatots, they do not give me any information!'
A: It is very common to find at the end of the day that your child does not provide you with much/any information about what they have been doing at Dramatots all day! Here is a selection of some good questions to ask:
What part did you have today in the story?
What was your favourite game?
Did you play a game with the parachute?
Did you use any puppets?
What was your favourite story today?
Q: 'My child suffers from separation anxiety, and I know they will cry as soon as I to leave them in the morning. What should I do?'
A: If you have any concerns that your child will suffer separation anxiety, we have a number of proven, successful ways of dealing with this delicate issue. We know that it helps if the parent/carer is enthusiastic and positive about the course in advance of the child starting. Please try not to vocalise any anticipated issues with your child. It helps if your journey to Dramatots is as stress-free as possible, and that your child is comfortably dressed, and not hungry or thirsty. As soon as your child is signed in, we ask that you leave the vicinity as soon as possible, to allow our Drama teachers and assistants to engage with your child immediately, and positively. Please try to arrive just before 10am on the first few days, as arriving too early, or late, can be disconcerting. There is a reception area in the school, where you can wait until we are confident that your child is settled, and we can inform you before you leave. Please note that under no circumstances are parents/carers allowed into the Dramarama classrooms with children - not only does this breach our Child Safeguarding Policies, the presence of a parent or carer often has a domino effect on other children who then expect to see their parent/carer too.
Q: My child has never attended a holiday course before - do I have to enrol for the whole week?
A: Children can be booked in to Dramatots for a week, for £155, or for selected days, for £40. In all cases, new children should start with a paid trial day initially, for £40, to see how they like it. We hold a place for the rest of the week should they wish to continue - as most children do!
Q: I need to pick my child up early one day. How do I arrange this?
A: Please collect and complete an Early Collection Form on the morning of early collection, or before, if possible and return it to Jessica Grant, or a member of the Dramarama team.
Q: My child has nursery friends also attending. Can they all be together?
A: Yes, of course! We will always ensure that friends are in the same Dramatots group. Please let the office team know the names of other friends also joining us, as we do not automatically know which nurseries and schools the children attend.
Q: Can I speak to my child's Dramarama teacher about their progress?
A: You are welcome to have a brief chat with your child's Drama teacher before or after the course, however, please be aware that these are very busy times for the teachers, whose prime concern will be to register/give back the children in a calm and safe manner. Be assured that if my teaching staff have any concerns at all for your child's wellbeing during the day - e.g. if they are unwell; if they do not appear happy to join in; if they seem generally 'out of sorts' - we will contact you immediately. If you are not be contacted during the day, this means that everything is going very well!
We do not provide written reports for children's activities during the day. If your child seems reluctant to provide information about their day, please try asking some of the 'key questions' above.
