Alternatively, the postponed class will be rolled over to the following term.

  • Children are not permitted to bring food or drink into the class.

  • Parents/carers must wait outside the school upon collection; children will be brought out by their Dramarama teacher.

Structure of Drama Courses

  • Registration/drop-off is a hands-free process. Each group will be met at a designated drop-off point by their class teacher and assistant, to minimise queues and groups congregating. You will be informed of your group name and drop off and collection points before the start of the course. Please ensure that this information is passed on to all adults who are dropping-off/collecting on your behalf.

  • Course times are staggered to ensure that groups arrive and leave at different times.

  • Parents of siblings attending different groups will be advised of how and when to drop-off/collect.

  • If you are more than 5 minutes late for drop-off, please take your child to the late drop off point at the  main School Reception. A member if school staff will contact Jessica Grant to come and collect your child. Please be aware, you may have to wait for Jessica to be contacted and to arrive at the School Reception.

  • Parents/carers cannot enter the school site to use the school’s toilet facilities, for themselves or a sibling/other child who is not attending the course, or to settle a child (please see below).

  • One Dramarama teacher and an assistant will be allocated per group, as required for each age group.

  • All Dramarama staff will wear visors at their discretion.

  • Dramarama will not provide any equipment for the courses. Dramarama will provide scripts, as required, or ask parents to print off copies for children to bring with them to the course.

  • Dramarama courses will take place in a well-ventilated indoor space.

  • Children will be taken for a toilet/hand-washing trip at the start and end of each session. Dramarama teachers will assist individual children to the toilet during the day as necessary and ensure effective hand washing is carried out.

  • Groups will be allocated specific areas for their break and lunch times where possible.

  • Dramarama will provide a first aid kit, and staff will wear clean plastic gloves when administering first aid.

  • If permitted, and subject to the school’s ongoing Covid-19 regulations, from October Half Term 2021, Dramarama will present Open Presentations or end of week Shows, for one parent/carer per family to come and watch. These will take place on Thursday and Friday afternoons - days and times for each course will be confirmed. Only one parent/carer is permitted on-site per child attending the course. At the end of the Open Presentation/Show, parent/carers must collected from the designated collection point. This is subject to change and will be confirmed closer to the course time.

  • All Dramatots attending must be 3.5 years and older and have attended nursery for at least one term. Dramatots must also be fully toilet trained and able to use the toilet facilities independently. If a Dramatot is tearful at drop-off, and is in distress at being left, Dramarama staff will do their very best to positively encourage the child to stay. We ask that parents/carers assist and encourage the separation process. However, if after a period of time the child remains upset despite our best efforts, we will suggest that they try again on day two of the course. If the same issues occur on the second day, we will offer a credit note, valid for year, to use on a future course when the child is ready.

Effective Hand Washing

  • Adequate hand washing and drying facilities will be provided, including soap, warm water, paper towels and bins for safe disposal.

  • Dramarama staff will wash their hands upon arrival and exit and will carry an anti-bacterial hand sanitiser and tissues for use during the session.

  • Dramarama staff will oversee children effectively washing their hands upon arrival and throughout the day as required.

  • All children are taken on regular toilet breaks and our staff are on hand to help the children wash and dry their hands as necessary.

  • Dramarama staff will ensure that children apply hand sanitiser throughout the day.

Please also note: All pre-school / nursery children must be fully toilet trained and able to use the toilet facilities independently. Our staff do not enter the toilet cubicle and cannot provide intimate care. Children cannot attend the course wearing nappies or pull-ups.

Lunch and Snack Time

  • Parents must provide named nut-free packed-lunches, snacks, and drinks. Please ensure your child’s name is clearly visible on their items as many children have the same/similar lunchboxes and containers. Please ensure that food items such as grapes, sausages and cherry tomatoes are sliced as they are a choking hazard if eaten whole.

  • Parents must provide all food and drink in named packets or containers that can be opened and closed by your child.

  • If a Dramarama teacher helps open wrappers, lunch boxes or flasks, a new pair of latex gloves will be worn and discarded immediately afterwards. Dramarama staff will always endeavour to help the children with their belongings, but please ensure your child’s practises opening their own items beforehand, to minimise contact with their items.

  • Children will eat lunch / have playtime with the other children in their group.
