When people think of drama camps, they often only imagine children learning lines, rehearsing scenes and performing. While these are exciting parts of the experience, at Dramarama Camps we know that the benefits of drama extend far beyond the spotlight.
Through engaging drama activities, games and performances, children develop skills that support them in every area of their lives. For children aged 8 – 11 years, in particular, in these important years of growth and development, confidence, communication, self-awareness and resilience are all skills that begin to shape how children approach school, friendships, hobbies and new challenges.

✨Developing Communication Skills for Life✨
Strong communication skills are essential throughout childhood and beyond. Drama naturally develops these skills by encouraging children to speak clearly, listen actively and engage with others.
Children learn how to express their thoughts and ideas effectively, work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate with confidence. These skills help them navigate school life, build friendships, contribute to group activities and become more confident in social situations.

✨Helping Outgoing Children Focus Their Energy✨
Children with big personalities and lots of energy often thrive in drama environments. At Dramarama, we provide creative outlets where energetic children can channel their enthusiasm in positive and productive ways.
Drama activities encourage focus, concentration and teamwork while allowing children to express themselves creatively. They learn how to listen to others, take turns, work towards shared goals and use their energy constructively.
For many outgoing children, drama helps them develop greater self-awareness while giving them opportunities to shine in a structured and supportive setting.

✨Supporting Shy and Less Confident Children✨
Drama can be particularly transformative for children who are naturally quieter or less confident.
Our experienced Drama Teachers understand that every child is different. We never expect children to perform beyond what they feel comfortable with. Instead, we gently encourage participation through fun activities, games and group exercises that help build confidence at a pace that feels right for them.
Over time, many children discover strengths they didn't realise they had. They learn techniques for speaking more confidently, expressing their ideas and trusting themselves in new situations. The supportive atmosphere helps children feel valued, included and capable of achieving more than they thought possible.

✨Building Skills for School and Beyond✨
The skills developed through drama often have a positive impact on children's academic and personal development.
Drama helps children improve:
Public speaking and presentation skills
Listening and concentration
Problem-solving and creative thinking
Teamwork and collaboration
Emotional awareness and empathy
Memory and recall
Resilience and adaptability
These skills can support children in classroom discussions, school performances, exams, assessments, sports teams, clubs and everyday interactions at home.

✨An Inclusive Environment for Every Child✨
At Dramarama, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn and have fun.
We welcome children with all levels of experience, from those who have never stepped into a drama class before to those who already love performing. Our camps are designed to be inclusive, supportive and encouraging for children with a wide range of personalities, interests and confidence levels.
There is no "typical" Dramarama child. Some children arrive bursting with confidence, while others may feel nervous about trying something new. By the end of camp, all children leave with new skills, new friendships and a greater belief in themselves.

✨More Than Just a Drama Camp✨
At its heart, Dramarama is about helping children discover what they are capable of.
Through creativity, imagination and performance, children develop confidence that supports them at school, at home, in clubs, in exams and throughout everyday life. They learn how to express themselves, work with others and embrace new challenges with positivity and self-belief.
The performance may only last a few minutes, but the confidence and life skills children gain can last a lifetime.
I'd love to see your children this Summer at our camps! We have three weeks of camp, in NW3 and NW11, starting 13 July. Please let me know if you'd like more info, or would like a chat about what Dramarama has to offer.
Best wishes,
Jessica x
